The Catholic community in Thailand is putting the finishing touches to their preparation for the historic visit of Pope Francis tomorrow (November 20, 2019), the second visit of a pontiff to Thailand in over 35 years following that of Pope Saint John Paul II in 1984.
An open-air popemobile, embroidered robes made of Thai silk, and an elaborate chalice are among the items to be used by the Pope. Two Holy Masses will be celebrated at the National Stadium and Christian youth at the Assumption Cathedral. In a video released on Friday ahead of the visit, Pope Francis expressed hope that his visit will underline the importance of inter-religious dialogue, service to the poor, and peace.
