Papal Visit to Papua New Guinea: A Journey of Prayer and Faith

From September 6 to 9, Pope Francis will visit Papua New Guinea, as part of this Apostolic Visit to Asia and Oceania. The logo for this visit features a cross, colored like the beautiful sunrises and sunsets of Papua New Guinea, with the Bird of Paradise, a symbol of the country, sitting on
it.

The motto of the visit is simple: "Pray." Inspired by the disciples’ request to Jesus from Luke 11 :1 , "Lord, teach us to pray," it encourages the people of Papua New Guinea to strengthen their faith and connection to God through prayer.

Papua New Guinea is the third-largest island nation in the world, with over 1 0 million people and more than 840 languages, making it the most linguistically diverse country. Despite this diversity, the people are united by their faith—70% identify as Christian, including 26% who are Catholic.

Pope Francis' visit is a time for the people of Papua New Guinea to come together in prayer and reflect on their faith. This visit offers hope and inspiration, reminding everyone of the power of prayer in bringing people together.

The Papal Visit to our country at time is very crucial because the leaders and people of our beloved nation have strayed from the path that we should be heading. What the forefathers had dreamt of when they fought for independence is no longer the dream we share with them. For almost 2000 years the Catholic had come this far hope the visit will shed light on good governance and leadership for our people.
