Pope Francis has arrived in Yangon, Myanmar for a visit to encourage all the tiny Catholic communities in Myanmar and in Bangladesh. The Holy Father was greeted and welcomed by local Catholic officials at the Yangon International Airport in Myanmar Monday afternoon.

Different tribes from Myanmar are holding banners with this message of excitement of welcoming the Pope.

Cardinal Bo said that compared to the country’s ruling party in the past which exclusively made up of Burmese Buddhists, now, the party includes other ethnic groups and not only the Buddhists but also the Christians and other religions and for the Cardinal that is one big progress.

Pilgrims, mostly are elders from different dioceses of Myanmar are waiting near the church of Santa Maria for the coming of Pope Francis.

These two prominent ladies traveled all the way from the amber mining area, Northern part of Myanmar, with other pilgrims to see Pope Francis. According to them, if given an opportunity, they wanted to give holy rosaries made of exceptional quality natural amber to the Holy Father and to Cardinal Charles Bo.
